Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Secretary of Central Party Committee, the Chief of Foreign Affairs Commission Le Hoai Trung showed his respect to efforts and important achievements that the Party Committee, authority and people of Thua Thien Hue province achieved in the past time. Mr. Le Hoai Trung believed that Thua Thien Hue’s distinctive strengths are now developed. Besides, its culture and people-related values, particularly the 8 world heritages are maintained and widely spread. Many cultural monuments, heritages and cultural festival are conserved, attracting domestic and foreign visitors. In addition, advanced and modern technology are currently applied.
The Chief of Foreign Affairs Commission Le Hoai Trung believed that Hue Festival has made progresses over the past 24 years. It is now able to show the beauty, national culture and local distinctive features. Also, leading technology is applied in creativity and cultural production. Defining its position in international scope, Hue Festival is the occasion on which countries could show their distinctive cultural feature, accelerate cooperation and friendship, together develop a peaceful and prosperous world on the basis of colorful culture. Therefore, Hue Festival contributes to accelerating tourism, economy, social affairs; show national tradition and international integration.
“The Resolution No. 54 of the Politburo requires efforts made by Thua Thien Hue province’s Party Committee, authority and people; Commissions, Ministries, Central agencies, localities, businesses, investors, countrymen and oversea Vietnamese. It is hoped that the province would successfully conserve, promote Hue heritage values, cultural identity, successfully perform objectives and tasks so that Thua Thien Hue would become a centrally managed city in 2025. “In this attempt, Hue Festival is expected to become a regional forum for cultural convergence and exchange”, said Mr. Le Hoai Trung.

Speaking at the event, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Phuong kindly informed that Hue International Arts Festival Week 2024 would continue the success of previous festival seasons. In addition to events held in Hue Citadel, many programs, street festival and community stages are available to serve Hue locals. At the same time, many cultural and art activities will also be organized in localities across the province so that locals and visitors will enjoy not only festivities, but also the sound and light of spectacular art programs.
On the basis of achievements accomplished, potentials, unique history, culture and heritage, Hue Festival 2024 will define and show the determination for developing Hue into a featured Festival city in Vietnam, a national center for culture and tourism, contribute to successfully carry out Resolution 54-NQ/TW of the Politburo whose aims is to develop Thua Thien Hue into a centrally managed city on the basis of conserving and promoting heritage values and Hue cultural identity in 2025.
After the opening speech, the art program which was divided into 3 chapters took place. The program was the party of sound and lights, showing the creativity on the basis of cultural heritage values of the country and human kind. The art program was well prepared thanks to modern technology. Performances showed that Hue would sustainably develop and proactively integrate for development.
Under the theme “Cultural heritage with integration and development”, Hue International Arts Festival Week 2024 takes place from June 7 to June 12, 2024. Nearly 30 art troupes from the Republic of France, the Kingdom of Belgium, Spain, Canada, Japan, China, South Korea and Vietnam will bring audience spectacular art programs in the ancient space of the home to 8 UNESCO-recognized heritages.
Programs to be held on Hue International Arts Festival Week 2024 are Festive beginning program, “Cultural color” street festival, art programs performed by domestic and foreign art troupes, Royal Banquet by Night show, “Talking about Trinh Cong Son - The found love” music night, light festival, beer festival, floating lantern festival, vegetarian food festival, “Tam Giang waves” festival, the closing of Hue International Arts Festival “Be with Hue Festival”.
Apart from main programs, a number of activities are organized on the sideline of Hue International Arts Festival Week 2024.
