* Formation: This village was home to skillful craftsman who created and contributed to upgrading the value of famous artworks for the royal dynasty and citizens. Many architectures and artworks were considered as master pieces. In the past, artisans worked individually. They used to bring handy toolkit with them to customers' house where they turned elephant ivory and wood into beautiful durable artworks. As no training class is available, novices directly learn by practicing and were instructed by skillful artisans.
Many products of My Xuyen wood carving village won gold and silver medals in province-wide as well as nation-wide competitions. My Xuyen craft village enjoys a big market. Some products are ordered in large quantity. Human, animals, etc are lively described in wood carving artworks.
In the past, the main material used in carving is elephant ivory. However, they are replaced by precious types of wood today. From senseless block of wood, artisans created dragons, phoenix, horses, elephants, cats, dragon boats, hero, etc. The same theme may come in various designs despite being produced by the same workshop.
