Xa tac ritual was studied and re-enacted for the first time at Xa Tac esplanade (Thuan Hoa ward, Phu Xuan district, Hue city) in 2008. Ever since, the event has been annually held in the late second lunar month.
The fact that Xa Tac ritual was successfully restored contributes to maintaining and promoting Vietnamese fine traditional values; acknowledging great humanitarian values, and fulfilling the spiritual demand of the community.
It was organized in accordance with traditional simplified rituals i.e. Thuong huong ceremony (Offering incense), Nghinh Than ceremony (Welcoming genies), Dien ngoc bach ceremony (Offering white jades), Hien tuoc ceremony (Offering liquor), Phu to ceremony (Serving food), Triet soan ceremony (Clearing table), Tong than ceremony (Seeing off genies), Tu chuc bach soan ceremony (Radiating votive paper and tablet).
As the ritual clearly shows humanitarian identity and rites of the wet rice agriculture, it is being maintained and considered as a traditional cultural value of Thua Thien Hue province.
