The museum was founded on December 23, 2009 pursuant to Decision No. 2824/QD-UBND of the People’s Committee of Thua Thien Hue province.
Coming to this museum, visitors have a chance to admire the entire system and the list of samples on display. Thanks to detailed instruction and clear classification, visitors have an opportunity to experience VR 360 room which is associated with sound system and information.
Currently, the museum is home to three basic kinds of sample including typical geological patterns and natural resources (187 samples), fishes on the Huong river and Tam Giang - Cau Hai lagoon (1.400 samples) and wood (28 species). Relevant information are updated on websites in forms of news, list of collections and photo library. They contribute to creating a database of information regarding to managing samples stored at the nature museum, advertise the museum and attract locals, researchers, students and teachers to the museum.
The museum has proactively applied information technology in managing sample information. It is the place where visitors may broaden their knowledge of typical tropical forest located along Truong Son range - one of the 200 global landscapes internationally ranked by World Wildlife Fund, Tam Giang - Cau Hai lagoon system which covers the area of 22 thousands of hectares - the most typical lagoon among 12 tropical lagoons in Vietnam and South East Asia.
